RESIDENT EVIL 6 ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER BREAKDOWN/ANALYSIS

Resident Evil 6 was hinted at just two days ago 1/18/12 via NoHopeLeft.com which showcased the rumored China setting, and numerous Bio-hazard symbols posted around the site and now as you probably know by now the announcement trailer has been released but doesn't really explain much of what is going on with the story. The trailer is constantly flashing to another scene making it slightly difficult to get a good look of what is going on. Lucky for you if you didn't catch every little detail shown in trailer, I will go over what I can of what's going on. Unfortunately a few subjects that I talk about in this article are not officially confirmed by Capcom and is just pure speculation.

First off I want to discuss the characters that were shown in the trailer, I'll begin with the obvious ones first. So the first character that was presented in the trailer is none other than Leon S. Kennedy. Making his first appearance in Resident Evil 2, second appearance in Resident Evil Gaiden, third appearance in Resident Evil 4, and his most recent appearance in Resident Evil: Degeneration. The first thing you will notice is that Leon looks a lot older than he did when he was last seen in Resident Evil: Degeneration and still working for the government. Now the great thing about this is they didn't decide to completely change how he looks or change his character, *ahem* DMC.

Not bad Capcom, not bad at all. However, I do look like Sawyer from the that TV series Lost
Next up is Chris Redfield, Chris Redfield has made numerous appearances in the Resident Evil story and is essentially the main character of the series, making his first appearance in Resident Evil. Chris Redfield then made his next few appearances in Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 5 and his most recent appearance in Resident Evil: Revelations. Based on the trailer it looks like Chris also received a make over from the previous installment in the series. He no longer looks like he is on steroids, his face looks like it has aged quite a bit and the most notable is his haircut. A section in the trailer a squad member calls Chris "Captain" presumably this means that Chris Redfield is now captain of Alpha Sqaud something which he was not in the previous installment. Also something most notable about the changes to Chris is his attitude. Chris is angry, who is he angry at? Some "Bitch" at this point no one but Capcom knows anything about this bit of information. Maybe he's talking about Helena Harper?
I said no cameras!

Next up we have this guy with a buzz cut. Capcom hasn't stated his name yet so I'll just be calling him buzz cut guy until they do. But anyways this guy definitely is inhuman, something I noticed in the trailer is how he doesn't use any weapons throughout the entire trailer. The only thing you see him doing is just beating the crap out of Zombies with his fists, that or running away from other Bio Organic Weapons  the size of Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. Obviously he's all about the money, right off the bat he want's to "$200,000 up front and $200,000 when it's all over." There is a good chance this guy is Steve Burnside from Resident Evil: Code Veronica if he is still alive, since his body contains something the world wants which if this is the case it would be the T-Veronica Virus. Apparently this buzz cut guy is the worlds savior and I don't really know anymore than that.

Last but not least, Ashley Graham. Is this Ashley? It sure sounds and looks like her. She was shown in the same segments as buzz cut guy was shown. More or less it looks like this time she will be helping you more than you will be helping her, what a relief right? Don't want to have to babysit her again like we did in Resident Evil 4. Not much to really say about her except for the fact that her father is dead, there's going to be some tears shed, she's older, and doesn't seem that scared of the situation. This is just a trailer though so she's probably gotten used to it during the point of the game shown in the trailer.

Glad to see you're helping out this time around.

Now that I've talked about the characters that I wanted to talk about, I want to take a minute to discuss the gameplay. One word, AMAZING! I haven't seen a game look this good ever before, this game looks absolutely astonishing and I'm not talking about the graphics, that's just an extra bonus on top of everything else. Sprinting, dodge rolls, melee attacks, wall hugging, diving/sliding, and possibly much more! You can tell a lot of work has been put into this game. So much has been improved upon from the previous installment for better or for worse for example "tank controls" appear to be absent from this game. Another great looking feature is the ability to play as three separate characters! I'm hoping this is similar to how older Resident Evil games used to be where you chose one character to play as at the beginning of the game and played through their entire story then played as a different character for a whole new experience.

Civilians evacuating the city while I'm exterminating Zombies? That's new.
If it turns out that each character actually gets their own scenario, I can easily see it looking like this. Leon scenario focuses on old school style play which revolves around puzzles, scares, and limited ammunition. Chris scenario focusing on the action based game play that was introduced in Resident Evil 4 where the goal it to just kill everything in sight, and then there is the buzz cut scenario. Which could be something entirely new and could potentially play like a beat em up similar to Capcom's Final Fight or, it could just be a survival scenario which actually sounds more realistic than Final Fight: Zombie Edition. Each character has a partner with them that could potentially make this another co-op game. Leon has Helena Harper, Chris has Alpha Squad, and buzz cut guy has Ashley.

The storyline to Resident Evil 6 is very vague at this current time until new trailers are officially released by Capcom or interviewers get to interviewing the developers. The only theory I can come up with on how the virus spread is through this buzz cut guy, but according to Helena Harper "it's all her fault", very confusing as of now. The game is looking very dramatic and I feel like this will be one of the best Resident Evil titles story wise to ever be created, it's like one big family reunion. I am very hyped for this game and can not wait for November 20th of this year to be able to play this game. For more information of the game you can follow Capcom's social networks shown at the end of the trailer.
