THE KING OF SOUNDTRACKS REVIEW

The King of Soundtracks is a four disc soundtrack containing tracks from The King of Fighters 94' all the way to The King of Fighters XIII. The selection of songs and the amount of songs your getting with this soundtrack is amazing. One hundred and one songs and five hours worth of music for free? From one of the best, if not the best fighting game series of all time, how could you not be satisfied with a product like this? The King of Soundtracks was a pre-order bonus for those of us who pre-ordered The King of Fighters XIII, and currently is no longer obtainable as far as I know.

MUSIC
The King of Soundtracks is easily one of my favorite video game soundtracks that I have. Ranging from some of my favorite songs in the series such as "Deserted Town", "Koubai", "Kakumei no Etude ~RII", and "Kiss or Poison". These are a few to name of my favorites that made it on this soundtrack, if I was to list them all I could easily list about seventy five of them. The King of Fighters has always had good music even when the game wasn't up to par with it's predecessor, but let's not talk about that. There are about five to eight songs average from each game in this soundtrack, and spans across discs one through three. Disc four contains the entire soundtrack to The King of Fighters XIII which is also an impressive piece of work.

The music in The King of Fighters XIII is really something else I must say. Not one song sounds similar to the other, sounds are not over used, and just about every single instrument you can think of has been used in at least one song, sadly I can't seem to find a song using sounds from a harmonica. The music makes playing the game much more enjoyable than it already is. I'll probably be rocking this soundtrack through my headphones for the next five or six years(on repeat).

ARTWORK & PACKAGING
If you can't already tell, the artwork on all four discs is amazing, the artwork on the cover is amazing, and the artwork inside blew my mind! So much detail and color has been placed on the packaging for The King of Soundtracks I can stare at this thing all day.
Aside from the glorious artwork, I found the packaging for The King of Soundtracks to be very poor. It looks nice on the outside and the inside, but removing the disc is nearly impossibe without touching the surface of it. If you can get each disc out without putting one fingerprint on a single disc, congratulations! However this isn't my only problem with the packaging, upon removing disc four I already found that there were a few light scratches on the disc, this is more than likely due to the fact that there is no soft padding underneath it. Luckily we do have the choice to place each disc in it's own separate jewel casing.
